Finding a workflow that works for you is key. ![]() ![]() Blender is open source, but has a steep learning curve and if you’re doing architectural modeling, you’ll find the lack of tools to be frustrating. These tools are heavily focused on animation, but at least C4D and Maya are powerful modelers and all have high quality rendering plug-ins (at an extra cost, of course). At least Maya has an affordable “indie” licensing option that is not as laughably expensive as the regular software. I’ve been learning Cinema4D, Keyshot, and Maya (also owned by AutoDesk). Unfortunately, there aren’t great alternatives. This feature stratification encourages piracy and that’s a lose-lose downward spiral for everyone. ![]() Their web and mobile apps are making modeling available to more people, but only at the most basic level. Software companies are notoriously greedy, and Trimble is moving to the top of the pile. ![]()
